ראש השנה לאילן הוא בט"ו בחודש ולא כשאר ראשי שנים שהם בראש חודש. משום שאילן מרמז על התורה, ולימוד התורה צריך להיות מתוך תענוג, וזה שייך לט"ו בחודש, שבו קיימת הלבנה בשלימותה, אבל בראש-חודש היא רק בבחינת נקודה – ביטול.
